Hi,
I had a colonoscopy on Tuesday which found a 50mm malignant looking, bleeding and ulcerated tumor in my decending colon. I’m meeting the colorectal surgeon tomorrow and aw a ct scan for staging. I’m 37 with 3 three kids under 5 and terrified. I asked for liver bloods to be done which were normal thankfully .Don’t know what I’m looking for but wondering if anyone has had similar findings?
Hi Noreen 1234942e7e and a warm welcome to the board. I think a lot of us on here will have been in this position - mine was 4cm tumour in my rectum - and if you click on my name then my profile page will show you my treatment to date.
The CT scan will check for any spread to other organs (commonly the liver and lungs) and then the consultants will decide on a treatment plan for you. Bowel cancer is very treatable and once you have a plan in place then things will honestly feel a bit better.

Stay away from google - I’ve attached a link to a booklet that I was given at my first meeting which will help with terminology, questions to ask etc. and there’s lots of posts and information on here and the bowel cancer uk site.
We’re all at different stages of treatment and recovery on here and happy to help and support you through yours
Take care

Thanks very much Karen feel my tummy is in ribbons waiting but I don’t know if that’s just nerves or something else
it’s a horrible time but trying my best to be positive
I just read your story Karen too- thanks so much for sharing and giving people hope
Hi Noreen 1234942e7e it is a scary time, I remember it so well. I was diagnosed last December with an ulcerated and bleeding tumour in my ascending colon. Waiting for scans is so hard. I am now post operation and had some mop up chemo. Hang on in there. Treatments now are incredible. You will feel better with a plan and this community is amazing xx
Thanks so much Arial88 i met with my surgeon this morning and planning on surgery on 29th august once he has my ct results- happier once there is a plan in place
I hope you are recovering well
Hi that all sounds positive, not long to wait. Sending all good wishes. I am doing well thanks xx
Hi Noreen,
I was in the same situation as you February 2024, and yes, I was terrified too. I’m still here making a nuisance of myself!
Probably what will happen is the results from your blood and the CT scan will be looked at by a Multi Disciplinary Team. Then they will contact you and let you know what they have found and what they want to happen. It may seem a little slow to get started but when you’re in the system it will proceed fairly quickly.
I’m not your MDT so I don’t want to say things that may not happen but I had some treatment last year. I’m back riding my motorcycle, I’m skydiving and wingsuiting again and I’m just back last week from my nephew’s wedding in Brazil!
It won’t seem like it just now, but there’s light at the end of the tunnel.
Paul
Wow Paul, that’s great that you recovered so well everything crossed that I have a similar story to share on here very soon
thanks for the reply ️
Noreen
I’m sure you will Noreen.
