I had the above operation four months ago.  I recovered quite quickly and did not require stoma and chemo.

two weeks ago I began  to have pain and discomfort just under right breast, plus pain and discomfort in rectum area.    It is very uncomfortable sitting for long.

I have an appointment to see Colerectal nurse on 15th August,

Mean time, I wanted to ak if anyone else has experienced the above so soon after an operation when they were given the all clear.

  • Hi Topcliffe

I am sorry that you have not yet had a response to your question but it can sometimes take a little longer for someone to see your post and respond. By me replying it will bump your post and someone who has had similar symptoms will hopefully see it and share their experience.

It sounds like you are doing the sensible thing in going back to your Colorectal nurse on the 15th and hopefully they will be able to check you over and work out what is causing the new pain and discomfort. Once they know what is causing it then they can look into working out the best treatment.

I understand that it will be a worrying time waiting for your appointment and please do give the Support Line a call if talking to one of the nurses would help. They are there from 8am-9pm daily.

I wish you well for your appointment on the 15th and in the meantime if there is anything you need, then please do ask.

    Jane

  • Afternoon Topcliffe,

I had the same operation just over a year ago with the exception that I needed chemo after.  A couple of weeks after the op I was really good.  I didn’t experience any of what you have described.
It’s maybe not what you wanted to hear but you can at least say to the nurse on the 15th that you have heard other people say it didn’t happen to them.

    Good luck next week.

    Paul
