UPDATE on sister

Just wanted to give an update on my sister as some of you have commented and given advise.
going from the 2 CT scans, 1 MRI and obviously the colonoscopy, it looked as though this was going to be major surgery. They said it had spread to her womb but they needed to investigate to see the extent of the spread, then book her in for a hysterectomy as well as remove the tumour from her bowel.
Friday 13th June they took her down for what was meant to me a 2 hour minor op just to see what’s going on!!!! 6 hours later… :/

surgeon decided to do the op there and then. Said it hadn’t spread to her womb like originally suspected and the tumour was much smaller than anticipated.
his actual words to her were ‘ I have no idea how we got it so wrong… the scans showed the tumour had evaded the bowel wall! Whatever you did, well done’!

she did do a lot in the 9 weeks waiting for the operation! Loads of different supplements, oils, no sugar or carbs, fresh spring water only! One meal a day that kind of thing!
obviously there isn’t much science backing this but I think it’s safe to say, she’s pleased she did it rather than just do nothing in those weeks. If nothing else, it gave her the sense that she had some control over her body. And a certain oil took away all anxiety too.
she is well on her way to recovery, no stoma needed like initially planned and potentially she could be going on the holiday that they told her was a no go.

good luck to everyone on here. It’s a rollercoaster ride that no one wants to be on isn’t it. I wish you all a good outcome like my sister Two hearts

  • That’s lovely to read  x

  • That’s wonderful and inspiring news. I have to admit that I have been surprised at the lack of comments on this board around “extra” stuff that people can do, not to replace the regimes (standard of care) prescribed by surgeons and oncologists, but perhaps to support the efficacy. I’m not talking about snake oil treatments, but nutrition, exercise, fasting, mindfulness, meditation, yoga etc. etc.

  • It seems to be a bit of a taboo subject doesn’t it. She would never have not taken the treatment they were offering. I think that would be extreme . But I don’t think, at the least, there is any harm in helping your body get ready in the meantime.
I got absolutely slaughtered on the Facebook bowel cancer page for sharing my sisters experience. One man said it was dangerous and I’m giving people false hope, no scientific evidence etc. but this is our experience and it worked incredibly well for her and made her journey a lot more positive than it could have been.
