Those who had pain - what was it like

Hi, I’ve been having a discomfort in my lower right abdomen. I was diagnosed with a kidney stone in may. But can’t imagine this discomfort in my lower right abdomen is that. I first noticed it in January/February time. Intensity has increased after I started with the stone issues in march but the dull ache is constantly there.
sometimes it’s a burning sensation that radiates into my groin but not everyday. Sometimes it’s a slight stabby discomfort- when wind passes through it’s uncomfortable and I feel bubbles when I’m laid down into my groin ( only way I can imagine describing it ). Just wondered what everyone’s discomfort or pain felt ljke?
I have a lot of gurgling and liquid like noises but only when I lay down almost everyday but only since my first stone attack in march. I’m constipated. But that started last year whilst on wegovy and continued after stopping in march. When I initially wake on the morning- the discomfort is hardly felt really- not sure if my anxiety is making it worse as within 10 mins of opening my eyes and my brain working it starts again. I don’t notice it as much when I stand but feels like a pulling feeling in my lower abdomen/ groin when I lay flat.
im so worried as my friend died from bowel cancer 5 years ago- hers was found too late as drs fobbed her off for 18 Months and said she was too young for bowel cancer. She was only 39 When she died. That triggered a lot of health anxiety for me and massive cancer phobia.

I feel awful asking you guys for help but I’m trying not dr google as that make my HA worse. Just losing for advise from people who know what their talking about?
thanks in advance

  • Oooh I also have a pain in my lower back right in the honey area just above my butt crack. I have a lot of back pain over the years but it’s just extremely intense at my nit only been this last week that has after a long weekend walking in Prague. I have a prolapsed uterus which makes my back hurt sometimes so not sure whether this is to do with that.

  • Hi  As Granny has said on your previous post there is not generally a lot of pain associated with bowel cancer. It does sound like the pain in your lower back is probably due to excess walking or standing or sleeping in a strange bed or sitting in a plane seat after your weekend in Prague?
I think most people probably have a gurgling noise when lying down especially after having a drink. It will also be made worse by stress and worry?

We’re not medically trained on here so I think you really need to trust in your doctor and then talk to them after your MRI

    Take care

  • Oh Lord Debdoo, I’m so sorry to hear that you are in such an anxious state, the imagining of what might be going on really is much worse than the actual knowledge and a plan to deal with it. Karen is correct, we’ve all been where you are, and can offer practical advice based on our individual experiences, but aren’t experts or specialists.
Have you asked for any help with your anxiety? I for instance was offered a low dose of Bromazapam which really helped me to keep on an even keel whilst the investigations went on, and I got a diagnosis. An abdominal MRI will give information about all the abdominal organs, including the small and large intestines. If your anxiety is all about the possibility that you have cancer, you’ve come to the right place, it’s not “ the elephant in the room”. That elephant is one that we are all living with here. Nowadays a huge proportion of the population get a cancer diagnosis at some time in their life, and we live in a time where treatments are very advanced, and very successful. It sounds as though you are in in very good hands, and that you have a number of isuues around the abdominal cavity which they are busy trying to work out so that you get the appropriate treatment. If you’re “ worst fears” turn out to be correct,  you will know what you are dealing with, be able to rationalise and understand what each pain, and gurgle is, and be on the path to recovery. We’re all at various stages of that process and will be with you all the way.

  • Thank you for replying Chris, means a lot.
the dr put me in sertraline a couple of months ago but I couldn’t stand the side effects. Felt like I was on verge of a panic attack every 2 mins. I know the side effects would have only been for a couple of weeks but they was that intense I couldn’t keep doing it- only lasted 4 days,

im currently laid on sofa with an icepack in my lower back trying ease the discomfort that even my naproxen hasn’t touched today.

i just can’t wrap my head around any logical reason what could be causing the tender when pressed spot on my lower abdomen for 6 months. It’s one spot- doesn’t move about- low down near appendix area- I initially thought it was maybe an ovarian cyst but pelvic US was clear.
everything just seems to be taking so long- I had the niggling worry about the pelvic ache since end of jan - then in march I’ve been in constant fight or flight mode with various symptoms, which at the time they thought was a gallbladder issue. Turned out in may on US not gallbladder issue but a kidney stone in Lower pole of right kidney. Not got my CT results back for that yet so no idea if I’ve passed it or if still there or if had friends. When I lay down and I get the gurgling wind feeling passing through my bowels I feel all the pressure of the bubbles all the way into my groin - it’s a weird feeling.
just been on my back stretcher which arches backwards and relieves pressure in the spine and it was more painful than normal and I could feel it pulling all down front of abdomen and into my groin at the front. But everything in left felt normal. Nothing.

Groin constantly feels like it’s swollen and more tender to press than left but I can’t feel any lumps myself. Thank you ever so much for Replying. It’s horrible what your all having to deal with and I feel awful coming here looking for advise-

im in my 3rd week of therapy for my health anxiety and trying to stay of google as it makes me more anxious so just wanted to discuss with people who may have an idea.
