I'd never had constipation before but I thought this was it. I went to my Dr's and he agreed. Prescribed some powders to move it along. 2 nights later nothing had happened and i became worried. Rang 111,was told to go to A&E. A couple of hours later I was seen. Put on a drip, bloods taken, moved to resus and prept for surgery.
Out come:- I had a growth in my large intestine. They put a stent in and gave me a probable date for keyhole surgery. I was in shock. Had the surgery, it all went well. And i didn't need a stoma.
I felt incredibly lucky.
I knew I had to have precautionary chemo.
Then was told about the chemo. 8 session and all necessary information. Starts 30th May and I'm terrified
Hi Den64 ,
the chemo isn’t a barrel of laughs but honestly it’s not as bad as you think it’s going to be.
they give you drugs to help manage the side effects. For me the worst side effect was fatigue.
try to get out for a gentle walk each day if you can. Treat yourself kindly and never be worried about calling the emergency line if you are worried, they would rather you do.
it looks like my cancer may have come back and in all honesty I’m much more scared about another op than another six months of chemo.
It helps if you think of the chemo as eg vitamins or your superhero beating cancer on your behalf. It might sound daft but it does help.
I hope it goes well for you!
