My name is Anthony and I’ve had bowel cancer, it would be a year ago tomorrow that I had my operation, it went well and I’ve not had any issues, YET my anxiety and medical stuff has gone stupid. I’ve had my CT scan done and it’s been on my mind all the time, can’t sleep comfort eating. My CEA levels came back clear, yet I’m still lying awake at night.
does anyone have any advice tips for getting through this.
kind regards
anthony
Hi Anthony73 and a warm welcome to the board. Yes I think we can all relate to the scanxiety fear but time is a great healer and each clear scan and low CEA result will start to make you feel a bit more confident about the future.
Ive attached links to a couple of things that will hopefully help? One relates to dealing with anxiety and the other is a really good paper about life after cancer.
Take care

Hello there
You must have got your op roughly same time as me last year. The waiting for results is a nightmare. I just tried to take a day at a time. Kept busy. I tried very hard not to overthink but its only natural. Just think how well you have done getting through the operation. I had chemo too. Has been a bit of a bumpy year. But onwards and upwards. Dont let cancer get to you. You are a fighter and the big part has been done. The operation.
Hope you hear soon
Karen
