I noticed a lump in my lower stomach 2 months ago and only went to the doctor last week, feels stupid now but I honestly thought they would think I'm a hypochondriac.
It's fairly large even the nurse described it as such. My saving grace is a family history of growing benign myomas in the uterus, but I guess it's not in my uterus based on the doctor referrals.
Got the blood test in a week, waiting for the FIT results (colonoscopy if there is blood). Waiting for a CT appointment that I'm scared about.
And at the end cancer or not I suppose I'll need surgery either way.
I've done a lot of crying, a lot of stupid googling, trying to gauge odds, I love numbers. And finally googling foods that could help.
It doesn't help I have a high stress situ at work (redundancies).
And I'm angry at myself I'm obese, I ate a lot of junk, i smoked, and drank a lot. I quit everything at the start of the year before this happened but maybe I was too late.
I am waiting waiting waiting. I was told I had cancer but not much more. This week I find out more.
But meanwhile I am focused on good nutrition. Building strength and doing what I can to give me the best chance. Lost weight sensibly. Deep breathing to ensure optimal lung capacity in surgery.
The fact you have changed your negative habits is great. I think to myself if I don't die from this, I will be in the best shape I have been in ten years. 50/50 until I know more.
So don't worry yet about what you don't know but focus on your health. Whatever you have, the future will easier with any improvement you make.

Too much Dr Google is a bad idea......Stick to sites such as Macmillan, Cancer UK ....NHS etc.
I drank, ate and smoked far to much in my early years.... gave up when I was 40 ...22 years later I had a positive poo test....colorectal cancer ...Dukes A....anterior resection carried out....8 weeks later back at work.....its not easy but try not to worry ...your medical teams will give you loads of support.

That's what I'm trying to do too, be as healthy as possible to give myself every chance. I've not heard about this deep breathing do you have link to something so I can read up?

Here is one link. It requires you to breath into your stomach rather than your chest. Hold the breath then exhale slowly.
In hospitals many people catch respiratory disease as they are weakened. Healthier lungs can help prevent complications.

It is such a simple and basic thing to do and most people are unaware. The anaesthetist encouraged me to breathe deeply prior to surgery. She said everyone should do this every day as it enriched the blood with Oxygen and promoted faster healing and other benefits to our body. It was good advice - and I find it helps me go to sleep much quicker.
