Hi all. I hope you are all keeping safe and well. I wanted to ask if anyone has advice or some experience with the issues I’m experiencing. I have recently started chemotherapy it’s Cetuximab. I’m starting to get a rash on my face. I would appreciate any advice or recommendations. Thank you
Hello EricNHL
I am sorry to hear that you are having some issues with Cetuximab.
The best person to speak to is your CNS and it is worth giving them a call about the rash. I was given a phone number to call while I was having my chemo and rang several times to check things out.
Hopefully they would be able to reassure you and suggest something to help.
I have found some info on the Cetuximab and it does suggest speaking to the hospital if you develop a rash.

Hi EricNHL As Jane says it’s best to ring your 24 hour chemo help line - it’s not just for emergencies. You could also try typing Cetuximab in the search box at the top of the screen to see previous posts like the one below

Hi EricNHL
My mum has been using Cetuximab for ten months now . She did break out in a rash initially.
Looked red like acne but isn’t !
She gets continuous antibiotics that prevent the severity of the rash . She also has a steroid cream she keeps in the fridge for bad flare ups . And uses special washes .
She gets creams for general use like Aveeno but prefers Altruist she buys herself .
If you have all of the above you can get a dermatologist involved .
My mum’s stated visible for around six weeks then reduced .
One observation has been unlike chemo where the side effects accumulate it feels more like each cycle one side effect emerges then recedes . Then an entirely different one pops up . Mum I only have Cetuximab so it’s easier to see what’s causing it .
A few cycles in and it became very manageable and has given her ten months of not having to have full blown chemo . We have been very encouraged by that .
Take care ,
Court
