Hi everyone,

Thought I would say hello, my cancer journey has just started. Had Colonoscopy last week and told same day that I had cancer in the Colon. I have CT scan this week and not sure what follows, has been a bit of a whirlwind to be honest. All I know at the moment is that I have a holiday in Portugal next Saturday then an operation at some stage afterwards. This is all a bit strange but happy things are happening quickly.

  • Hi  and a warm welcome to the board. Yes it’s a shock followed by a whirlwind of scans and meetings but once all the results are back then the MDT (multidisciplinary team) will meet and decide on a treatment plan for you.

Please stay away from Google - it can be scary and out of date - stay on here and the bowel cancer uk board and ask anything you like. Bowel cancer is pretty slow growing but very treatable and if you click on peoples names then their profile page may show their treatment so far.

We’re all at different stages of treatment and recovery and happy to help and support you through yours. The next few months will be tough but please try and enjoy your holiday - thoughts are not facts so try and put things to one side until your results are back

    Take care

  • Hi Dbirder

Last year I got told I have cancer minutes after they stopped my scope part way through. It was indeed a whirlwind but I was given a bowelcanceruk publication that day and to this day, it is still the best information I received. It simply and quickly helped me understand key concepts in bite size chunks.

Here is the link to it, in case you'd find it helpful:
