Mum sent for urgent referral

Hi I’m just looking to get some insight my mum who is 67 has been having left sided abdominal and back pain on and off for months now she is also experiencing feeling of electric shocks and pins and needles going down her left side only which wakes her up at night. Dr has sent her for urgent Cancer referral and the appointment has come through and it is for Gastrointestinal and Liver can any one offer any insight I’ve went down the rabbit whole and have thought of every possible cancer.

Hi Julie23 . I wouldn’t say that these are symptoms typically linked to bowel cancer and I’m not medically trained so wouldn’t want to start trying to guess at the cause. What I would advise is to stay away from google and wait for the tests to be done. Thoughts are not facts and just because it is a cancer referral does not mean that it is definitely cancer but it does mean that she will be seen quickly.

Hi Karen thank you for the reply. I’m assuming the Dr is sending her to rule out all possibilities which we are grateful for. But he has also left us with so many unanswered questions as to why it came totally out of the blue after she got a X-ray and blood work done which apparently have came back clear which is good news.
