Had bowel surgery in June and today started the chemo tablets just wondered if anyone else has had them and do they have any advise thanking you

  • Hi Aunty lou.

If you know the name of your chemo tablets, you can use the search option near the top of this page to find recent and historical posts referencing them.

There is also a great chemo tips thread in this forum -

  • Hi Aunty Lou. Are you having capecitabine? They tend to be a lot better tolerated on their own than with oxaliplatin and you could have a look at this post from a couple of weeks ago?

I had a mild dose of capecitabine alongside my radiotherapy and found my feet felt a bit ‘gritty’ towards the end so keep them well moisturised and raise any problems with your nurses?

  • Hi Aunty lou I’m taking capecitabine tablets and have been since the end of May. I haven’t noticed any real side effects, but that might be because I haven’t been taking them long enough. I eat a high fibre diet and haven’t suffered with diarrhoea, or nausea. I do get tired, but that’s more likely due to my compromised liver. Wishing you lots of luck.

  • Hi thank you that's great to hear that you haven't had any hope that will apply to me thank you again
