Good evening
I am new in group.
I am 50 years old
Done Fit test as noticed some blood in my stool , after fit test was urgent referral to have a colonoscopy
on the 5 of July during my colonoscopy I was told I got a tumour in my sigmoid , biopsy done and confirmed it’s a cancer
Done CT
On the 19 of July my first appointment with a surgeon which wanted to do MRI and Ultrasound scan before make a decision regarding treatment
MRI and ultrasound scan done
On the 3 of August second appointment with a surgeon which confirmed that after MDT meeting they decided that I will be beneficial to have a Robotic surgery first to remove cancer
My surgery will be next week
I think I am the same as everyone in group worry, crying, not knowing what happens, how far cancer goes as my surgeon told me will be more information after histology
thank you

Hello Natata
I know how you feel it’s so stressful and a lot to process. I had surgery first and I just wanted it done and out.
It’s filling in the time but thankfully you’re nearly there
Maybe you could organise your bag for your hospital stay. I treated myself to my favourite smells and nighties etc
You could ask for advice here there’s lots of members that have brilliant info. Simple things like nighties for easy access. P Js can be awkward for that
sending you a hug

Hi Natata. I was in the exact same postion last yearm, had colonoscopy on 5 July 22, told it was cancer, there and then, had CT/MRI/MDT . Met with surgeon on 19 July and surgery on 27 July, final staging T3N1MO which was confirmed after surgery, 4 rounds of CAPOX, Sept22 to Dec 22, discharged for 5 year surveillance in Feb 23 following post chemo CT bloods, clear bloods and colonoscopy June 23 . Following the MRI/CT they should know if the cancer has spread but as they have offered surgery now, that is a positive. Please try to be kind to yourself, I had keyhole surgery, removed the tumour in my sigmoid, along with all associated lymph and blood vessels. I di not need a stoma, although they did measure me for one during my pre op assessment. Please ask anything you like, we have all been where you are now xx
Thank you Mel
they didn’t measure me for any stoma on my pre op assessment, the surgeon told me I don’t a stoma at this point .
My CT was on the 5 of July and MRI scans was on the 25 of a July and after MDT meeting they decided that I would be beneficial to do surgery first. Because nearly 4 weeks after my MRI and operation tomorrow I only hope the C didn’t get to another part of body
my stage is unknowing as well only after operation and histology
thank you for you support.
