Hi. I had a hemicolectomy in December 2021 and have recently had my one year CT scan which was clear. I was supposed to have a colononoscopy in January this year but have still not had an appointment. My support worker said there is a backlog and she doesn't know how long it will be. I'm getting very anxious about not being checked. Also i am frustrated at not being able to plan holidays in case the appointment comes through. I especially want to visit my daughter in Australia whike i am well enough. Has anyone else had a delay with their checkups? What can i do?
Hi Drama
1st congrats for clear CT .
As for what you could do, I would suggest you also contact your Endoscopy department directly to ask them for a date. I believe their records will show your due and you can ask for any cancellation slots that suddenly become available if your keen to get it done and dusted
Thank you. I will try ringing direct, but i've found it almost impossible to get through to them in the past. They never answer the phone.
Hi Drama
my nurses never answer they can be on the ward or clinics if you leave your number then they should call you back. You could explain your plan to visit your daughter they may get you a cancellation they do come up. Believe it or not lots of people cancel last minute
It’s definitely worth a try
I was surprised when having an endoscopy they repeatedly asked for my permission. I then said do you ever get anyone leave. He said yes. Lots
Hope you can plan that visit it’s a wonderful country and even better you can see your daughter
Good luck
Ann
Thank you, Ann. My nurses always get back to me. It's Endoscopy who never answer the phone or reply to messages. I'll contact my nurses to see if they can help.
I lived in Australia for a few years and it is a wonderful country. I always look forward to seeing old friends as well as my daughter.
It certainly is.
What part are you visiting?
I meant to say that to phone your colo nurses. They can arrange a bump up. I phoned for reversal and was told eighteen months I was coming up to a year after telling them my circumstances I was in two weeks later

Perth is a smashing place to live. We stayed there a long while back at the end of November. Twas so funny seeing Santa in a T-shirt.
East coast is beautiful too we took six weeks and a campervan stopping off when we wanted. It was an adventure of a life time especially as my husband doesn’t do camping
But in Oz you can have a plot with your own en-suite. Or a compost toilet in the national park. Can you guess which he preferred?
