Had surgery in November and this has been successful but returned to work and found out that they offered the position I applied for to external candidate

i haven’t even had a welfare  check since I returned early December although I was called to an absence from work interview! Can you believe it.  I feel totally gutted and feel worthless as a result. It’s really affecting me and I feel so anxious about everything as a result.

  • Hi Brooksie.

Firstly congrats on successful surgery. That is great and very precious news.

I was wondering if it was worth you requesting a meeting with your workplace HR team to express how you feel and say what you'd like to see from them as an employer.

Have you ever looked at your own character strengths? I've found mine very empowering when i hit stumbling blocks that feel unpassable - the inner signature strengths always see me through. If your even slightly interest, ypu may find this article helpful (and on same site you can register for free and do survey to identify your strengths): https://www.viacharacter.org/topics/articles/what-are-your-signature-strengths

And of course there are many members here willing to listen and share experiences

  • Hi Brooksie

Am so sorry to hear about your experience.

I did a long reply to you yesterday but it doesn't seem to be showing. I tried to share positive concepts from my own experiences. I've asked community moderators to advise how to get that message posted.

Macmillan also has a webchat or phone number for emotional support in the meantime.
