Hi all I'm a 60 year old Manchester guy, been diagnosed with stage 2 colon cancer , now waiting for my operation, has anyone had and been treated for this type of cancer.

  • Hi yes I was diagnosed with stage 2. The scans show its perforated the wall but not gone through all the layers. I had my resection ooeration in December and got my histology 2 weeks ago. There was no spread to nodes or vascular. This means I am on surveilance only for 5 years. I am also up North near Preston. You will be well cared for and Manchester have some amazing recovery programmes. Good luck with your op

  • Hi   I also had stage 2 colon cancer and had my op in September. Like Poppy, I had no spread to lymph nodes so now on review. I was in hospital for 4 days after the op and recovery was probably 2-3 weeks. Was very sore at first but after a couple of weeks was able to do most tasks & even exercise! Good luck!

    • Hi started my chemo on the 17th March and had 3 cycles on a 2week break then to have another 3 sessions, my side effects have varied but one constant being a feeling of what I can only describe as a feeling of numbness on left side of my face which I call my mask...anyone else had this, also still have a feeling of unsteadiness and balance...only been sick a couple of times which is a bonus...any help much appreciated

  • Hi Alfie789

I'd suggest you do let both your CSN and oncologist know about your side effects. They will be in best place to know whether there is anything in your medical history and/or treatment plan that could be causing it. My stiff upper lip may have not always helped me in this area.

About 2.5 months into my chemo, i started with unsteadiness and balance issues. After 6 months of chemo it continued to get worse. In hindsight, I may have benefitted from a chemo dose reduction. I have also become significant less active due to challenges post op and with chemo side effects, which in turn is likely to have impacted my balance.

I have not had numbness in face, but do have in hands and feet.

Your profile doesn't say what chemo you are on or your post op staging. You may find it helpful to add these details so others with similar situations to you can reply.
