Hello im new to this group
My partner was rushed into hospital early December with tummy pains and a CT scan showed he had a tumour in his bowel , he was straight into surgery they removed alot of his bowel and his appendix and 43 lympth nodes.
4 days in IUC and 16 days on the ward and hes now home
We were told it has spread to is liver too and I'm just lost as we had no warning of this and has received no real outcome of his op.
We saw his consultant yesterday for our first appointment and to discuss chemo and she said he was stage 4 in the bowel but that's been removed and stage 4 in the liver which they hope they maybe able to operate.
But if they cant operate on his liver what does this actually mean they wouldn't really answer and this makes me think it could not be curable.
Hes only 43 , im keeping so positive around him but deep down im so scared hence why im reaching out to you x
Hi K8J
Welcome to the forum .
If you click on my user name you can read my mum’s story as she navigated a spread to her liver .
It is positive that they have even mentioned an operation in the liver at this stage . They only really do that if they think there is a clinical possibility of it happening .
Going straight to chemo is good I’m terms of controlling the spread systemically , reigns in what is visible and also tackles any micro disease . It can also allow better surgical margins .
Mum has been a stage 4 patient for 13 years and has quite a few different approaches. Lots and lots of good living also .
I will link in a good booklet later as even if surgery were not possible you will see people on chemo for years . Bowel cancer can have various chemo options depending on the type of cells involved .
However the best piece of advise I was given is to keep your mind where your body is and not let it go to the worst case . A difficult diagnosis but with treatment options . Lots of days where it was hard to do this but we are here to support you through it .
Take care ,
Court
