Hi all
I'm new here, but just needed to chat with people who understand the deep down stuff which is hard to talk about,
Briefly i was diagnosed with colon cancer in Apr 21, had a lower arterial section in Aug 21 with ileostomy followed by Chemo,,, in Feb 22 during Chemo i had a heart attack and had two stents fitted, my ileostomy reversal was carried out in Oct 22 which i am healing well from, however just before xmas i found that i had blood in my urine but only for a day, my surgeon has said this is nothing to worry about but has referred me to a Urologist,
The strange thing i found was that throughout my treatment i was faily stable and positive and ready for the fight, however since the all clear and reversal i found that i was severely depressed almost like PTSD which i am currently seeking help for and reason i have joined this group,

Hi BoogieTJ and a warm welcome to the board. I think a lot of us can relate to how you’re feeling. Whether you like it or not cancer becomes a big part of your life and almost leaves a void when your treatment finishes, I felt strangely underwhelmed after my last meeting with the oncologist when she told me to go get on with my life and almost missed my fortnightly chemo sessions - sounds ridiculous doesn’t it? You’ve also had a couple of other health issues thrown in and it can be a bit like waiting for the other shoe to drop and you lose confidence in your own body.
The paper below is very good and a lot of people have found that it sums up how they’re feeling
Macmillan has also teamed up with BUPA to offer 6 free counselling sessions. If you think that might be helpful or just want to talk it through with the support team then the number is below
Lastly - and I’m sorry for all the links - the Life after Cancer page is very good and the Community Champion Mike has some very wise words
Glad you’ve found us no hope the above help
Take care
Karen x
