Hi am new here and haven't got a clue what I'm doing or what to expect I have had a ct scan and a biopsy which has left me in an awful lot of pain am waiting for appointments for mri and the camera .All bloods and fit test came back positive for bowel cancer

  • Hi  and a warm welcome to the board. The first few weeks is a whirlwind of scans and tests but they’re all necessary to give the specialists the full picture. Once the results are back then the MDT (multi disciplinary team) will meet and agree on a treatment plan for you and things will honestly feel a bit better then. Depending on where the tumour is then you may go straight to surgery or have treatment before surgery to shrink the tumour.

Please stay away from google - it can be out of date and downright scary in places. Bowel cancer is notoriously slow growing but very treatable especially if caught early.

If you click on peoples names then their profile page may show their treatment to date. I was diagnosed in November 2016 and I’m currently cancer free.

Feel free to ask anything you like on here - there is nothing too daft or embarrassing - and we’ll be happy to help and support you through your treatment

    Take care

  • Hi Shazza54

i wanted to say hello Karen has given you great info. She’s a star. This is a comforting place to be when you’re heads all over the place.
It’s all very frightening I was like a rabbit in head lights. Fight or flight.
One day at a time and treat yourself. I banned all news scary movies and anything about hospitals. Just Romcoms my poor husband didn’t complain and I made the most of them as he’s not keen.
    Take care x
