Hi, I'm new to this section!
I was diagnosed with breast cancer in march, i had the tumour removed but need to have a mastectomy after my chemo due to the pre cancer cells they found. I'm nearly half way through my chemo.
I had a colonoscopy yesterday due to a change in bowel habits just to make sure everything was normal. I thought all of it was due to stress but they found a tumour. I saw it all on the screen and the tumour looked horrendous (obviously I have no idea and no reference to what these things look like) but in my eyes it looked bad. They sent me for a ct scan and now I'm waiting. My mind is going crazy and Im so scared; scared for my 3 young children, my husband and my parents. I've managed to catch the breast cancer early but my mind is full of 'what ifs' for this one.
I'm trying to put on a brave face for my children, I don't want to tell them until i have all the facts, I can't put them in this awful limbo too but its so hard. People keep saying that I'm fit and healthy and I can beat it. I don't know what Im fighting yet! What if its too late.
Sorry for such negativity, its just where Im at at the moment.
Sorry to hear what your going through. It’s so scary, I have a different diagnosis but the emotions and rollercoaster is the same. I find during my consultations that I just listen and take it all in. I think I’ve understood it then I come away with many more questions and then I 2nd guess what they have said. It would be useful if a nurse could call 2 days later to summarise what’s been said and see if we have any questions following. It’s something im going to suggest at my appt today.
I have recently had to have a stomach formed urgently. This has delayed my radiotherapy by 4 weeks so im guessing that is the reason for yeh change to your current regime so that you are fit for surgery if that becomes an option.
i wish you were with it all x
Hi Chillypom
Can I just confirm that you have not had your scan results to see if this is a primary tumour and no one has suggested it’s a secondary spread .
I can absolutely assure you having navigated twelve years of treatment with my mum we have encountered a few unhelpful comments from well intended people .
I have my financial aspects in order and my will as it’s a good way to live . But I would certainly not draw a conclusion on your prognosis from this .
Can you phone your oncologist specialist nurse and have a chat . Or our helpline staff 0808 808 0000.
Further into the process we could take these comments and filter it out but you are in a very raw stage . It will get better with more information.
Take care ,

Ive had my ct scan back but thats all. It shows that a few of my lymph are affected. They also said they needed to double check 2 spots on my liver to make sure it wasnt anything. They still think its a primary but im still waiting on biopsy results.
I spoke to my specialist nurse who said that more info and a plan was needed before considering anything else.
It just completely knocked me back into a panic!
Of course it does . We see a lot of lymph nodes affected but still operable .
The liver can frequently have benign lesions and lots of people have to get them checked just to be sure . Kareno62had this experience. My friend has just had to go through this following breast cancer . They were not there before treatment started but up they popped . It was a bit nerve wracking but they were fine .
To be honest I would find that overwhelming too . Bowel cancer even in a stage 4 setting is actually quite fortunate when it comes to treating a spread compared to some other primaries . Take my mum For example she has had a spread to her liver and her lung and that’s since 2009 . Being an older lady now other factors are coming into play .
Time to pull this back to where you need to be just now . One more piece of the jigsaw to complete before pulling the treatment plan together . That will give you the direction to move forward with this with some structure around you .
By all means sort out your finances but don’t see it as a prognostic value .
My mum would be saying best foot forward .
Much love

Hi Chillypom. Yes I had to have a spot checked out on my liver and it was a hemangioma. Apparently these are harmless cysts which are very common and most people go through life without ever realising that they have one.
I also had 2 lymph nodes affected which were removed during surgery with the tumour. Sounds like your team are getting the full picture ready and then will put the treatment plan in place
Take care
