Hellooooo

Just saying hello, because I'm a newbie. August has been the strangest time for me. I'm a student midwife so started the month all hectic, getting ready for the end of year submissions. Then I went on a beautiful family holiday and spent a blissful week relaxing in the sun (albeit with my usual dodgy trips to the toilet). Came home to a colonoscopy appointment, a potentially-simple-to-fix cancer diagnosis, a series of scans, and a worse than anticipated outcome. Because of this I'm suspending my studies and preparing for a colostomy and chemoradiation. So instead of attending the Welcome to Year 3 session at Uni today, I'm sitting here typing a hello on a cancer support forum, like I've just totally dropped out of my regular life. Like..."Who switched the light out?!!"

I realise that wasn't the most friendly-sounding hello! Anyone else feeling a little grumbly today? Grimacing

  • Welcome

You sound like a very bright person in deed and whilst you have to put your books down for a few months we are absolutely going to have a forum celebration when you graduation . We have not had a student midwife in my memory but many others in various stages of “ life interrupted “ and we celebrated when this was all firmly in the rear view mirror . Although it may interest you to know we have had a few mums to be go through this . Maybe a research project for the future !!

It felt like my family accidentally turned up a one way street we could not get out of for a few years too !

Whilst this is not the place we would want you to be we are here and ready to support you through this @ Kareno62 has helped bring this radiotherapy top tips thread together .

I will link it in underneath .

We have many forum users who are through the process and will pop on and share with you .

Its a big bump on the road but your going to get through this process .

    Take special care ,
