Hi hope yous can offer so advice or help.

In 2021 I was diagnosed with bladder cancer went through treatment chemo then removal or bladder plus other organs surrounding the area, got the all clear in jan 2022 however in feb 22 I got a flesh eating bug which meant I needed half of my stomach soft tissue removed and needed a number of scans which showed a lump on my rectum they weren’t sure what it is they done the stool test finger test which came okay a failed colonoscopy however the doctor doing the colonoscopy said from what he could see there was nothing concerning to him but given my previous health he wanted to get another test which has still never been arranged from May anyway the last 2 weeks I’ve been having very bad pain in between my bum cheeks it doesn’t go down my leg or anything, any time I pass wind or go to the toilet the pain gets worse, has anyone had this before?

  • Hi Claire

I wanted to say hello and sorry I haven’t had the pain you describe  I definitely think you need to push your team along and tell them what’s happening. May is three months past you must be very anxious I know I would be.
I had a lower anterior resection last August so I do understand the treatment plan. After your colonoscopy you will have a contact number to ring they should know exactly what’s planned for you so it may put your mind at rest

I hope that you have some reassurance soon

    Sending you a hug

  • Hi @ClaireN21. Yes as Ann says you need to be chasing this up. It may be some sort of polyp but if it’s painful then it needs looking at and if it is a polyp then you don’t want it getting to the stage that stools can’t get past and you get a blockage.

Let us know how you get on?

    Take care

  • Hi ClaireN21

I have pain sometimes after going to the loo. It can be extremely painful after a number 2. This has been linked to my diagnosis of rectal cancer. It may be you have something, a polyp or something, I’m no medical expert.

I’d highly recommend you get on the phone tomorrow and don’t give up until you get some answers.

After my colonoscopy, I had a follow up CT scan and MRI which helped with the diagnosis. I would hope you’d be fast tracked given your past medical history.

Hope you get some answers and follow up soon, sending you a big hug. I’m not sure if this will make a difference but sometimes knowing you’re not alone even if it feels that way helps.

    Keep us posted...

  • Hi ClaireN21, I had a resection on my bowel LAR last November,  I been worried about pain but my moments are normal but I feel a bit of pain and all could be normal for what I’ve had done. I phoned my nurse, I’m having my colonoscopy September 26. So it was bought forward a few weeks. My nurse has said there is no cancer. Scans clear. I won’t leave anything to chance. I have a appointment for the End of October, but they haven’t sent my scan appointment and bloods through. Already getting jittery. So I would chase them up for your own peace of mind sending hugs xx
