Hi there
After 6 months plus of having bowel problems (bloating, stomach pains, really lose stools, going loo 2,3 sometimes 4 times a day & never feeling like I’ve emptied my bowels properly. Leaking and having accidents) I finally rang my gp. Was sent for loads of blood test and now been sent to the fast track cancer referral. Picked my bag of medicines up today, which sound awful!! I go for a CT virtual colonoscopy with contrast on Thursday.
I’ve had the odd tiny bit of blood in stools, but had more mucus than blood, should I really be worried about them finding cancer with these symptoms?
Not related but I had Breast Cancer almost 4 years ago, which is now in remission.
TIA

Hi XjulieX
Totally understandable to be worried . We have a lot of people who come through here with similar symptoms. Statistically only 1 in 10 people with rectal bleeding actually have cancer . Lots of other conditions have similar symptoms . However you are doing the correct thing in getting checked out . The cause of bleeding needs to be identified and dealt with whatever the cause .
All the best for Thursday .
Take care ,
