Hello

I’m quite worried at the moment and have done the usual, dr Google and all that jazz.  I know that doesn’t help and until I get the results through I won’t know anything for sure. In fact I’m not sure why I’m really writing this but I need to get this out my brain because I’m going insane.

I told my drs finally I’d had  since November a few weeks ago and last week did a sample and bloods.  Tuesday they called me and since then I’ve been booked in for a telephone appointment with the colorectal team on 2WW for tomorrow . Also had an abdominal ultrasound bc of liver bloods sat.

Did anyone else have diahorrea that long?

  • , all the best for tomorrow xx

  • Hi . Yes I had loose bowels first thing in the morning for about 2 years and only went to the doctor when blood starting appearing in the toilet bowl.
As you say you won’t know for certain until you’ve had all the tests done. There are lots of conditions that have similar symptoms to bowel cancer like ibs, colitis, diverticulitis. Hopefully they will book you in for a colonoscopy after your appointment today and you can get to the cause of the problem.

Please stay away from google - it can be scary and out of date. Only 1/10 colonoscopies result in a bowel cancer diagnosis and if - and it is only an if at the moment - it does turn out to be bowel cancer then there is a lot of treatment available.

Please let us know how you get on

    Take care

Thanks  and  for your replies. I had the appointment and the nurse was fab.  At the time I was at ease but still unsure how I feel now I know the tests.  Endoscopy. Colonoscopy and CT scan.  Seems a little overboard from what I’ve read but like people say got to wait for results.  I’ve asked my GP to call me to explain because now I’m having these on top of fecal tests, bloods and ultrasound I have no clue what’s going on .  It’s the CT scan that’s got me.  If they’re doing a colonoscopy why a CT?

  • Hi, , the colonoscopy will look at the bowel, from anus to Cancun. The CT, usually with contrast (an iodine type dye that enhances the images) will check the whole pelvic area, often the chest and tummy as well. So they are different animals!! Hope that helps!

  • Oh yes `Dr Google` can be a `wee besom` and get you thinking all sorts and play with your mind as it did mine. Before Jay got his initial Bowel Cancer diagnosis I was on every other day trying to convince myself it was Colitis, IBS Diverticulitis etc everything other than cancer to the stage I made myself ill. When he got his official diagnosis last July(2021) it actually felt like a relief! because then we knew what we were up against and Ok he got rid of it at the beginning of this year but the bugger came back and now he's going through chemo to either get it under control or dare I say it get rid of it completely or go into remission. After the last time we're not getting too complacent that it will go completely so we're being `cautiously optimistic` but touch wood- everything is going well and he has had no adverese side effects to the cancer meds a little bit of feeling nauseous here and there or having indegestion or heartburn but not being physically sick or anything. He gets tired but that's to be expected so long may it continue that the meds are only causing minor effects and that they're doing they're job.
