Hi
My name is Rob and I have been diagnosed with advanced rectal cancer.
These forums are new me - but I would really appreciate connecting with people who going through the same thing or have experience to share
Thank you
Tigers Fan. Hi Rob and a warm welcome to the board from me. Can I ask which other organs you have affected then it helps others to advise? I’ve attached a booklet from the bowel cancer uk site which might be of interest. Have you a treatment plan in place yet? Things usually get moving quite quickly once you have all the scans results back.

There’s lots of treatment available nowadays and many people are living with cancer and having long term chemo as part of their life. If you have a look at court mums story (just click on her name) then you can see how well she is doing.
Glad you’ve found us and we’ll help and support you through this
Take care

Hi Karen
Thank you for your reply and the attached information.
I have rectal cancer and it has also invaded my prostate ( Consultants words). At this point it has not affected any other organs.
I have a treatment plan for Chemotherapy, radiotherapy and then surgery. I am waiting for dates for this to start. I am quite anxious that I am on a waiting list and will feel better when I have some dates confirmed.
Again thank you for your reply and support.
Hi
I have just read your Mums story thank you for sharing.
I hope she continues to be well.
Rob
Hi Tigers Fan
Welcome to the forum . It sounds as though you are still on course for a good clinical pathway . That’s the most important thing .
Hopefully the treatment will give you some shrinkage too and less work for the surgeon.
Watching what chemotherapy alone could achieve was remarkable . Hoping the same for yourself .
My mum has been through a lot and it’s much better when a clear plan to give a path forward is put in place . She has been treatment free since 2016 and lots of good living since .
Please feel free to ask anything at all . There is always someone around to answer .
Take care ,
Court
