Hello i was rushed into hospital last September and it transpired I had Bowel Cancer my CEA reading was 11 the tumour was at least 4 years old and 40 mm in diameter the tumour was successfully removed along with 17 Lymph Nodes which were all clear I have had 6 months chemotherapy tablet form (Capecitabine) as a precaution however I finished my chemotherapy 6 weeks ago and have just had a further CEA blood test which is now 22 has anyone else experienced the same I am having another CT scan next week

Hi Dancing QueenThere are several things that can cause your CEA to fluctuate including chemotherapy or an infection. The main thing is that you're going to get a scan next week and if there is anything untoward then it’s been picked quickly. The link below talks a bit about CEA increases

Dancing Queen, I agree with Karen, you've got a scan , that will help any decision. CEA is not definitive, mine bounces all over the place, particularly during and after chemo, which can affect the reading. But you are being checked out, that's a good team you have.
