Hi

I'm new to this group.

Diagnosed 3 weeks ago with bowel cancer. Had to wait 10days for MDT meeting to discuss MRI & CT results. Tumour is early stage and confined to bowel only. I got a telephone call to say that I would need surgery only at this time and would get appointment very soon with consultant. That was 10 days ago too and still waiting. Is this the norm. Its been 5 weeks since my colonoscopy when it was discovered. I just feel as though things are dragging out.

Thanks

  • Hi

Welcome to the forum . Sorry to hear about your recent diagnosis but sounds as though you have a good plan in place .
Your time scales sounds in line with what others report at this point . It can take a week or for MDT collection of scans etc . Hopefully you will hear very soon . Did you get the name of the person who phoned you ? No harm in phoning up just to make sure .

Our helpline staff could give you more information on 0808 808 0000

. Or you could have a look at the Nice guidelines just to be sure . Certainly if it drags on I would act .

    Take care ,

  • Welcome. I was the same. The MDT meeting happens on one day and if all the scan results are not ready in time it rolls over and you have to wait another week. There is currently a delay with processing results.

This bit does drag out. I found it really difficult. I kept ringing the co-rectal nurses which made be feel better that they had not forgotten me (Because it can feel like they have !)

Hang in there. Here if you need to chat
