I'd just like to say hello. I was diagnosed with a small tumour in the sigmoid colon just over 3 weeks ago following a positive FIT test, the subsequent CAT scan showed no obvious spread. I have a consultation on Thursday 9th June with the surgeon to discuss treatment plan. Feeling a little anxious at the moment, trying to keep busy but obviously have my moments, after the speed of the initial tests and diagnosis I've felt a little in limbo waiting for the next step of the journey.

  • Hello Flora

This is a great place to be for support.
Although my tumour was in a different place ( mine was rectal) I also was discovered by a fit test.
    Thank goodness

It sounds like they’ve found it quickly and you are on the right route to get it sorted. I’ve found it amazing that I was picked up by that and now I’m fine. They have the treatment plan and that’s sorted.
It’s a whirlwind however there’s so many amazing treatments. So I just wanted you to know that we are all here and there’ll be someone that’s been through the same.
Good luck and keep posting if it helps

  • Hi . Yes the waiting for tests and results is very stressful but once you have a treatment plan in place then things will honestly feel a bit better. Bowel cancer is very treatable nowadays especially if caught early and no spread is good news.
Ive attached a link to a booklet that I was given at my first meeting which covers some of the terminology and also suggests a few questions that you might like to ask?

Please let us know how you get on and we’ll be happy to help and support you through this

    Take care
