Had an operation to remove a section of bowel on 05 April 2020 but I still have tummy pains and inconsistent bowel movements (to date). Not sure i I should keep to a low residue diet or try to be as normal as I can. I will start chemo in three weeks time so I am a little concerned by all of it. Fossie Bear

  • Depending on where the bowel was removed, your guts will have been manhandled and will need to fill up and adjust to the new routine. So a month is not long. Try adding some normal food in, but not very high fibre just yet! That will come. There's a reason they wait 6weeks or so before starting chemo, to give things some time to readjust and heal. Take care xx

    1. Hey I just had the same op on 20th. I have had to have a temporary stoma too. I will also be starting chemo soon haven't yet seen my oncologist.  I am finding the low fibre diet so hard and very boring. Also getting some strange tummy pains but guess we have had a lot going on the inside that is still healing. I cant really help with your question but just to say I'm in the same boat, worried about chemo and still in shock from diagnosis.  It's just alot to deal with isn't it. All the best x
