My husband has been diagnosed with bowel cancer, it has spread to his liver. They think it may have spread to his brain to. We noticed that his swelling im assuming due to the steroids, but today we noticed his out side thigh is weeping clear liquid. Could this be water retention, his also diabetic 2. His going down hill very fast. I just want to make him comfortable. We are both carers but since caring for him with the cancer I feel like I have no idea what I'm doing ( if that makes sense) we only found out his diagnosis 5 weeks ago
Hi
Welcome to the forum . So sorry to hear about your husband . That is a lot to process and I agree . Having spent a long time as a profession allied to medicine I felt suddenly propelled into a different experience but you will find despite how you feel your experience will be coming into play .
I am wondering if our nurses on the helpline might have some insight .0808 808 0000 . I have not actually hear of it before but some people do have ascities and they have swelling around the abdomen . Post surgery my mum had it in her legs too . But I would also suggest you contact his team as they may be able to help or his GP . My mum was put on a diuretic which was more gentle on the liver by her liver . I would not hesitate in letting the professionals assess him .
