Hi I was diagnosed with bowel cancer 10 months ago I had a bowel resection then advised to have chemotherapy as a belt and brace I only managed 3 rounds as was very I’ll so decided to stop.

I had a ct scan in January which picked up a enlarged node in centre of abdomen so then got sent for a pet scan that showed I had two enlarged nodes one as seen on ct scan but another near my belly button

spoke to oncologist and they are not able to remove them due to where they are situated so advised radiotherapy for the one in my abdomen but wait and see about one near my belly button

I just wondered if anyone else had been told this as I am a bit scared just to leave the one near my belly button even though small don’t really understand

the good news is it not in any other organs at moment .

  • Hi

Welcome to the forum . Sorry to hear about your recent scans . Sounds as though you are happy with the treatment plan for one aspect but have reasoned concerns over the remaining node .

You are entitled to a second opinion at any point on the NHS and sometimes it helps to hear how another clinician would treat it .
My mum has had a few watchful waiting situations . One in her liver and the other in her lung . Not the easiest of times but did give the oncologist more information after a period of time and action was taken thereafter .

It is finder to go back to your team and ask what they are hoping to find out by waiting to see and what action would they pursue thereafter . Sometimes knowing that is enough to get on board with the plan . But my mum always needed to understand the reasoning behind the plan and gave her a lot of reassurance.

Do you have a date for the radiotherapy?
