I am a carer for my husband who has cirrhosis and bower cancer

  • Hi

Welcome to the bowel forum .
How is your husband progressing ? Has he had surgery ?

Please feel free to ask anything that may concern you . Someone will hopefully be able to assist . We are also here for you as we know difficult it is watching people we love going through treatment and not always able to make things easier for them right away .

  • Due to cirrhosis they will not operate as it’s just to dangerous, we were told 1-3 years

At the Beatson for his monthly cancer injection as a last hope Dr spoke to my husband stating if my husband would agree to let him send his blood results to a specialist from London who works in Birmingham to see if he can do anything for my husband.

The cirrhosis was diagnosed Jan 2021 so it’s been ongoing from then. Found out about the cancer in October 21. I was trying my best but seeing my husband getting weaker and weaker l had to take time of work

  • Well I am Glad you did as you need to consider your health too .

The Beatson are a fantastic team . They have taken such good care of my mum and her prognosis was not very great to begin with . They sound as though they are working hard for your husband to get him the best possible care .

You both have had a lot of change to adjust to and need support along the process too .

Have you considered using the Maggie’s centre at the Beatson ?

    Take care ,
