I'm new to this group and currently receiving treatment for stage 2 bowel cancer. it has been a steep learning curve and I can see that dealing with the drugs and side affects is my main concern apart from my family.
Currently having problems with my left leg and foot but not sure if it's related to side affects. Pain in calf when walking and if the foot gets cold toes and solel go numb and are almost impossible to warm up. Etreme pain then follows until feeling returns.
Thank you for accepting me to this group.
Hi Kettleson and welcome to the board. Can you tell us which chemo you’re having? As you’re discovering chemo has lots of side effects and affects everybody differently. Oxaliplatin in particular causes something called peripheral neuropathy which causes pins and needles in the hands and feet. I found for a day or 2 after my infusion I got a tight feeling in the back of my leg when walking and going up stairs but it wore off after the first couple of days.
Ive attached a link to a post that we started about chemo side effects but I would also encourage you to discuss your side effects with the nurses at your next session or ring your 24 hour helpline for reassurance. If your calf seems hot and swollen then ring 111 or go to A and E as cancer can put you at risk of blood clots and dvts.
Glad you’ve found us a d keep posting if there’s anything that you’re worried about
Take care

Hi Karen
I have to keep checking what's going in.
I think I started with Oxaliplatin and Capecitabine
This changed to Irinotecan, Capecitabine and Panitumumab. Plus Doxycycline for rash
The Doctor should be phoning tomorrow so will have a good chat. I did phone the helpline but they were not sure if my leg problem was due to side affects or not.
However I'm very glad I have found this forum and read about some truly amazing people who have undergone a lot more than me.
It all adds to my determination.
Thank you
