Hi Gang,
New here, received diagnosis yesterday so thought I'd join the group for advice and reassurance
Hi and a warm welcome to the group from me. I’m sure you’re feeling a bit shell shocked at the minute but please hold on to the thought that bowel cancer is pretty slow growing but very treatable.
The next few weeks will be a whirlwind of scans, tests, meetings and can be very stressful but once your team has all the results then they’ll get a treatment plan in place for you and things will honestly feel a bit better.
We’re all at different stages of treatment/recovery on here and if you click on people’s names then their profile page may show their treatment so far. Stay away from google - it is out of date, misleading and downright scary in places - you can ask anything you want on here - there is nothing too daft or embarrassing!
Glad you’ve found us here and keep posting - the next few months will be tough but we’ll be happy to help and support you through this
Take care
Karen x
Thanks Karen,
Yes shell shocked is exactly the phrase for it! Went in for colonoscopy thinking I was being massively over cautious and it'd be all fine and then apparently not
Had CT scan straight after so have follow up with doc on Thursday and meeting with surgeon on Sat. Will def feel a lot better once I have a plan of action and once I know if its spread or not.
Thanks again
Emily
No problem Emily
You are at the worst part of this. My head was all over the place. It’s easy to imagine all sorts. Try and push it back and treat yourself to things to take your mind off.
Once you have the treatment plan you can move forward
Sending you a virtual HUG

Hi and welcome to the group.
Im about four months ahead of you on this. Like others have said (and said to me before) you’re in the hardest part now. But once you have those first meetings you’ll know where you are and what the plan is. Everything becomes easier from there. There’s lots of treatment options.
I’ve found this group really useful. Not just for practical advice (I check in every time something new happens to me as there’s always somebody who’s been through the same thing) but also just for the support and reassurance of knowing I’m not alone in this.
I've got more detail in my bio and there’s a link in there to my blog that describes my journey in more detail.
good luck with the meetings - ask lots of questions and take lots of notes.

Hi Emily9090 and a warm welcome to the group from me too, but sorry you find yourself here.
This is a fantastic group, there’s so much support on here and everyone knows where you’re coming from as they’ve been there too. As others have said this is definitely the worst part and once you have a treatment plan in place things will seem a lot better – honestly.
Hope the meetings go well and keep us posted – we’re here for you.
Take Care,
