Hello
I have been diagnosed with stage 1 bowel cancer and the surgeon has suggested a panproctocolectomy with a permanent ileostomy
i am struggling with this a lot , has anyone been in this position ?
I also have UC for the past 26 years
i want to explore other options and want a second opinion, can anyone share any experiences
thanks
Hi Gunner
Its lot to process.
My op was reversible however they’re still not sure.
I had my LAR August and I feel better than I ever did with the cancer. The pouch doesn’t stop me from doing anything in fact I’m not spending most of my time trying to go to the toilet or panicking about what I can eat.

Feel free to ask anything if you feel it may help .

I haven’t had it. I’m on a list for an EUA to see if it’s possible I won’t know until I wake up to see. It’s still guessing game. But I’m fine and booking time away. Apparently I’ll be on a very long list. Which is how it should. I’m not an emergency x

Hi . Is the tumour very low down? There is an alternative treatment for low stage rectal cancer called Papillon but not sure if it would be suitable for a tumour down in the anus?
