Hi everyone. Thank you for letting me join this group. I was diagnosed with bowel cancer last January and had my operation last February. Five months of chemotherapy and now just trying to get on with life and stay positive. Various blood tests, scans and colonoscopy coming up in February as I am one year down the line now. Still living with the fear that it could come back but hoping for the best. Just wondering if anyone else on here is at this stage and how you are feeling about things? X

  • Hi  and welcome to the board and congratulations on getting through all the treatment. I remember the fear of a reoccurrence all too well and it always eased after each clear scan then built up again before the next one. The old adage of ‘time is a great healer’ is true and as each year and clear scan passes it does move further and further back in your mind.
A lot of people have found this paper useful if you’d like to have a read?

I’m now 5 years clear but hopefully some of the more recently treated members will be along shortly

    Take care

Hi Karen and thank you so much for your lovely reply. Congratulations on your five year all clear too. Xx

  • Hi PurpleJ , I was a year in September and I was beside myself with worry with all the first year tests . They where all clear and the relief was overwhelming. But I’m back to worrying about it coming back again . Im certainly not as anxious as I used to be and over time I’m sure I will worry less like Karen 62 put so well . It’s all perfectly normal . Best of luck with your tests XX
