HELLO TO ALL SHARING BOWEL CANCER & THE REPERCUSSIONS OF IT.

My username name is A.G. (Miss). I am a mother of three under the age of seventeen.

An endoscopy examination in September 2021, revealed a tumour in my bowel. By Christmas 2021, an MRI & CT Scan revealed much more than I'd anticipated, i.e. the enlargement of the bowel tumour which is cancerous and has spread up into my liver and BOTH lungs. I have recently turned 51 years old.

Too much to take in over such a short time!

Existing health problems makes this mountain-climb almost impossible, i.e. I had a Stroke in 2011, having just turned 40.

Should anyone reading this wish to communicate due to similar circumstances, I am ALL EARS! LOL!

Yours sincerely,

 Miss A.G.

  • Hi @A.G. and a warm welcome to the board from me. I’m sure  will be along shortly but you might like to click on her name and have a look at her mums profile? Have they discussed a treatment plan with you yet?

    Take care

  • Hi

Welcome to the forum , but what a shock for you and very overwhelming.
Have you started treatment ? Bowel cancer in a stage 4 setting actually has quite a lot of different treatment options . At the start my mum focused on reducing the tumour burden in her liver and slowly the chemotherapy got it to a point where surgery could be added .

Do you know your cell type ?

A few years later she also had a spread to her lung which they were also able to treat . It is very much a work in progress . Her team have been able to keep her going for over twelve years and when off treatment her quality of life has been good .

Sorry to hear you also had a stroke . Hope you have made a good recovery from that .

Have you been given much information on the various approaches to treating bowel cancer that has spread ? If not I can link in some helpful information.

    Take care ,

  • A.G. Welcome, this is the place to let off steam, swear, or whatever. We 'get' you. Xx

  • Hi my husband Pete had bowel cancer in December 2016, and was diagnosed with stage 4 secondary lung cancer in 2020 and in July 2021 it had also spread to his lungs. So l know how you are feeling, but although they can`t always cure it , they can at times control it for you. All the best and keep your chin up even though l know that it is hard x.
