Hey everyone
clinic today was another wee curveball.. change of plan?, I’ve just finished cycle 6of8 , after getting bowel tumour removed in March , 26 lymph nodes all clear , then they discovered liver tumour in august..and my consultant wants to give me a break for a month, as I’ve had few side effects and fatigue has been bad, the plan is to have break then pet scan .. check liver tumour (2cms) .. hopefully not find anymore cancer, and deal with tumour with more chemo .. I’m a bit knocked with change of plan and fearful of no chemo for month, even though dr sd it’s fine ..
anyone else come across this situation? Hope I’ve done right thing to agree and liver tumour don’t get huge in that time .. it was maybe there in June and 2cm in august.. so has appeared fast ️
need little reassurance
thanks E
Hi Stomagirl
Just to give you a feel for my mum’s schedule. She had two months off treatment prior to her liver surgery and around the same prior to her lung surgery . In fact the oncologist said we would hear nothing before Christmas ( think this was the start of Nov ) so to go away and enjoy it ! We took her at her word and switched off . She was operated on in January!
However both times she was quite a few years into treatment and we had a better idea of how the system works !
This is your time to draw strength . You are being scheduled for a scan so it’s still under observation and they will act on the results !
My mum was scheduled for eight and got six .
Remember they will be watching your tumour markers !
It’s time for you to get your strength up and enjoy this month !
Take care ,

Thanks court , it was only yesterday I got told so I think I need to reset my head a bit and write plan of things to do this month coming and try to forget about things , last thing I want is to dwell on what ifs!
so they wouldn’t stop chemo if they didn’t think it was ok ? Is that how it works ?
sorry for all the questions,
going to beach tomorrow with pup so that will definitely clear away cobwebs! Beach end September in Scotland
have a lovely weekend

Hi Stomagirl, I know exactly how you feel. I'm on a treatment break, it's been 8 weeks now and had my PET scan last week. I was so anxious about coming off chemo and it took a while to adjust after having the comfort blanket of treatment every 2 weeks, regular calls and blood tests since Dec last year. However, I must say the break has done me the world of good and I am now feeling back to normal (I had forgotten what normal feels like).
Let yourself digest the new plan and then use the time to refresh, get bits done and enjoy the extra energy! Xx
Thank you star74 , that’s good to hear , that others get that too ,definitely it’s a comfort blanket of treatment and drs clinics etc.. way of life ! That’s wt I’m doing today, let it all digest and start building myself up
thanks for support, much appreciated xx
Hi Stomagirl
Hope the walk along the beach gave you some distance from your appointment and let your mind rest !
I think they make clinical judgments and whilst they may aim for eight they may be happy getting you to six and review at that stage ! It can be flexible! They look at the information and they have started the scanning process !
My mum never made it past six in a row but it was effective for her by then !
I headed for some sand and water therapy too!
Beautiful day !
