Hey all
I have deleted the start of this post quite a few times as I don't know the best way to start! So I guess I just go with my heart........
I would like to ask for advice or knowledge regarding lower bowel cancer and then subsequent UTIs please. My Dad was diagnosed with lower bowel cancer in 2018. He was in surgery for a long time having his colostomy bag fitted and that it was a pretty significant operation due to the tumour being in the lower bowel. My Dad is a fighter (in fact I actually think he's better described as a trojan!) but he is also 89 years old (but I will say, a pretty unusual 89 year old that would put many of us to shame!!!!). He had MRI and CT scans recently (one of which he was called back for) and thank goodness it seems like all is OK.
Now to my question for which I am asking advice, Dad was very lucky, but has recently started getting a lot of UTIs - are UTIs after bowel cancer treatment common?
Thank you all so much in advance xx
Hi
That sounds really sore and I think problems can occur after treatments . I am wondering if the helpline staff might be able to speak to the Macmillan nurses and get you some input .
0808 808 0000. Your dad sounds as though he has a bit of power behind him still !
Take care ,
