hi there, im 59 never been a patient in hospital although now been diagnosed with bowel cancer and awaiting to go for ct scan and mri scan so the future looking unknown to me

  • Hi  and welcome to the board. The waiting for scans, results, meetings etc. is very stressful but once you have a plan in place then things will honestly feel a little better. The scans will give the consultants the information that they need and they will meet and decide on a plan for you.

I shall give you the advice that I give to all new members which is to stay away from google - it is out of date, misleading and downright scary in places. Stay on here and the bowel cancer uk board and we’ll be happy to support you through your treatment. Once you have a plan in place then we can send you some links to information but if there’s anything you want to ask in the meantime then fire away - there is nothing too daft or embarrassing on here!

Bowel Cancer is notoriously slow growing and very treatable especially if caught early. It will be a tough rollercoaster of a ride both mentally and physically but it is doable. If you click on people’s names then their profile page may give you a summary of their treatment so far - I am currently approaching 5 years clear as are the 2 ladies that I went through my treatment with.

    Take care

    Karen x
