Hi i had colonoscopy on Monday which found a stricture on the right side of transverse colon. Samples taken and tattoo marked, doctor thinks it malignant. Got CTC for completion and CT thorax next Tuesday. All very scary at moment, no other symptoms apart from a few griping abdominal pains very intermittently. Trying to keep positive, got so much to look forward to

  • Hi  and welcome to the board. These first few weeks are very stressful waiting for biopsy results, scans, meetings etc. Once they have all the results back then you will be discussed at the weekly MDT (multi disciplinary team) meeting which consists of an expert in all the fields that might be involved and they will decide on a treatment plan for you. Things will honestly feel a little better once you have a plan in place.

Stay away from google! It is out of date and downright scary in places - stay on here and the bowel cancer uk board - you can ask anything you like and we’ll be happy to help. Bowel cancer is very treatable especially if caught early. I’ve put a link to a booklet below which will give you a heads up in what treatment will be involved and some of the terminology, staging, etc.

Trying to keep positive will help you through this. It will be a roller coaster mentally and physically but it’s doable and we’ll be behind you all the way.

    Take care
