My son passed away last october with stage 3. From diagnosis to passing was just 3 weeks. He was only 39. 8 months on and its still so raw. Some days im feeling strong. Then BANG im down again. I think of him every minute of every day. I know i am never going to get over this. Its breaking my heart. I try to put on a brave face most of the time. But if people only knrw how i realy feel inside. Im not looking for sympathy. Just is anyone else feeling my struggle.

  • Hi Knitting Nanna,

Very sorry to see your news, hopefully i have just recovered from bowel cancer but during this time i found it helpful if i told people about my condition rather than brush it under the carpet so to speak. All the people i work with all know and i set about telling the whole of the company, about 800 workers, i did this to raise money for cancer research and to get people, especially men talking about medical conditions they may have, so please don't hide the fact you had a wonderful son, talk about him to everyone you see and i'm sure it will help in some way,

    Best wishes

Everybody did know how special he was, he was admired by everyone that knew him. No one has ever had a bad word to say about him. I do talk about him all the time, but i miss him dreadfulky. im glad you are recovering and i wish you well.

  • Hi . I'm so sorry for your loss, we lost my Brother at 39 and my Mum struggled with her grief.

I just wondered if you have looked at Bowel Cancer UK.  They have an online forum with a separate bereavement section, it's private,  just for those who have lost a loved one.  You may find company on there with people in a similar situation.

    Best wishes, Michelle.
