Hi everyone
i have read through some of the forum and what a supportive place. I had my colonoscopy Saturday and doctor confirmed tumour and said he is sure it is cancer. He couldn’t get past the tumour to see rest and see if spread to lump the nodes and organs. He said it is in large bowel. He said treatment would start soon but couldn’t say exactly what treatment until all results gathered. As you can imagine it’s been an emotional rollercoaster. I had Ct yesterday. Any idea how long I will wait to hear next steps. Obviously will depend on hospital etc. This is london UCH. Thanks in advance.
Hi WillaD
Welcome to the forum . Glad you found us ! I think everyone on the forum either patient or carer would totally agree with you . This part is a rollercoaster of emotions until they pull all the information together and the treatment plan arrives . It does give some structure and a way forward.
Things are a bit different just now with covid impact . I would have said around two weeks but actually some have been coming through quicker with them using phone calls so you just never know .
Hope we can support you as you navigate your way through this .
Take care ,
Court

Hi WillaD.
I totally sympatie with your wait. My husband has just had his colorectel surgery. He has been going through this since Dec, so all in all we dedent have to wait that long. We live in Devon, so waiting times mite be different here. This group is excellent to use if you have any worrys or concerns,I wouldn't of known how to cope. Good luck with everything.
Hi WillaD
Unfortunately this feels like the worst part not knowing what you’re dealing with, I feel your anxiety levels.
I’m also at UCHL, my consultant rang me early Feb to say that they found abnormal cells in my rectum and it wasn’t until I saw the surgeon 3 weeks later in clinic that I knew the staging of the cancer and next steps.
It takes time for the results of the scans to be analysed, discussed at the multi disciplinary meeting and a treatment plan to be agreed. It’s not easy to play the waiting game, all I can say is that you’re absolutely in the right place, UCHL provide superb care.
I wish you all the best.
Thank you. I now have an appointment on Thursday. Relieved but anxious.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
