Hello everyone,

Just recently been diagnosed with rectal cancer with the added dilemma of a small tumour on my liver.

News of this was like being hit by a sledgehammer, but my care team seem very optimistic they can do something.

I have had several scans, colonoscopy and am now awaiting a PET Scan and consultation with a cancer specialist.

There strategy is to hit both at the same time with chemotherapy, its a worry, but in a strange kind   of way i am looking forward to it as at least i will be fighting back.

The wait between test etc is a real worry and stressful time, all sorts of things run through your mind.

One thing though  i was assured by my surgeon i wont have to go through the Moviprep again.

Anyway i just thought i would give you a glimpse of my situation and to say hello to all who are in the same boat as i am.

  • Hello

Welcome to the forum . Glad you joined the forum .

It is quite a shock to hear bowel cancer has spread ( my mum had the same) however a small spot sounds like a small tumour load and the liver is such a resilient organ . If you click on my user name you can read my mum’s story . She actually had a significant spread to her liver so at the other end of the spectrum from you but you might be encouraged to read how she responded to going to chemo straight away and what the surgeons achieved thereafter . A bit of a bumpy road for her but they did a fantastic job and her liver has been clear for ten years this summer . Twelve years since diagnosis.

Tackling it really does feel like a solution and if your team is optimistic I would draw strength from that as they know what they are dealing with and what can be achieved . They are not inclined to sugar coat anything so it’s sounding positive for sure .

    Take care ,

    Court
