Hi all, in december 19 i  had a colonoscopy after 3 years of mucus leakage and attending the doctor regularly with concerns. I was 35 years old then. Roll on to june 2019 when i demanded investogation. They found several polyps of varying sizes the largest of which was 5cm. In Jan 20 i was in and had half my bowel removed and i was given an illiostomy. 2 weeks later i was told i only had pre cancerous cells. Which was a relief, however, i became upset by how much they took. I have read about so many people worse off than me that had less taken. I questioned at the time if they really needed to take that much, i was told yes, no alternative options were given. I think of my colon as a timeline, the more they take the less chance you have in the future if it returns. Which i always felt was inevertable. I had my ileostomy reversal in september and my check up colonoscopy last week. Due to my age they didnt want to leave it. I already have a further 5 polyps that grew in what is leftf my bowel. Awaiting the biopsy resultsUnamused again. Just feling like only being 40 and this all happening again so fast, im on borrowed time. Has anyone been through similar?

  • Hi

I can totally understand your concerns. Have you had any genetic counselling to see if you have a genetic condition . I only ask as we do have people on the forum who do and managed their conditions over the long term and it might be encouraging for you to link in with them .
might be able to give you some insight into long term management of polyps so I have tagged her in .

    Take care ,

has been working very well had a few blockages but nothing serious just learn to know what u can digest some vegetables very hard to process and I dint eat a lot of red meat my quality of life is sane as before I have energy have irk etc

  • Were you told how many inches/ feet of your bowel they removed? I had approx 10" removed....which is just a small amount. Apparently, womens' bowels are far much longer, & more twisty than mens are.
