So sorry but have been really worried and anxious about everything

  • Hi

Welcome to the forum . Glad you reached out to us . Totally understandable that you feel anxious. Can I ask what chemo you have been on ? Have you only had one cycle ? If you click on my user name you will see my mum had chemo over two years and the first year much more difficult than the second . We got better at chatting it through with her team and they reduced the dose slightly which did help . Has your team made any suggestions to you about making it more tolerable.

It is very scary but they did help significant and made it much more manageable. My mum found water really difficult to take and I think dehydration was a big part of it .

Hope your team can assist you getting it managed.

But please feel free to join in any thread here . We are here to support you as you go through this .

    Take care ,

  • Hi,

My husband has secondary cancer in his peritoneal but they don't know where his primary cancer has been so they are currently treating him with bowel cancer medicine which is CapOx. This is 1 drip infusion followed by 14 days tablets with 7 days off before the next cycle. He is starting his 2nd session tomorrow.

He has had a lot of side effects & has been feeling pretty awful for most of the last 14 days. The main thing has been his loss of appetite & lack of interest in food. He has lost weight during his first cycle & if he loses more they will need to admit him. He had a consultation with a dietitian today which helped in that they said what we've been doing is right he just needs to make sure he eats. He has been getting pain when eating for the last week so today he was in hospital for an X-Ray. It turns out the chemo tablets he was taking were keeping his bowel movements normal & despite having diarrhoea they have said he is constipated. They have changed his laxative & a couple of his other medications. He will still get his infusion tomorrow but I hope with the new medication to go along side his chemo tablets he will find things easier this time round.

When do you start your 2nd round? x

  • Hi

Sounds as though some progress was made today for your husband. Hope it eases for him and all goes well tomorrow.
