Hi,
just been diognosed with bowel cancer, from a polyp with cancerous cells, so just saying hello and hoping to speak to others to share experiences
Hi there Dream catcher,
New diagnosis here too! Next step surgery, no date yet but I have my pre-op assessment (bloods, BP, ECG etc.) this Tuesday, so I’m hoping this is an indication that I won’t have too long to wait. I’ve been bowled over by the speed and efficiency that the medical teams have dealt with this - very reassuring!
I hope you’re coping OK, that period between diagnosis and treatment plan is very stressful isn’t It? While waiting for my treatment plan many people reassured me that it does get better once your plan is in place and you know where you’re heading. And they were right! I’m in a much better headspace than a week ago, since knowing the plan.
Wishing you all the best
Deb

Hi, Deb,
Thank you for your reassurance, yes like you so many different things to go through, I have just had a phone call today Sunday evening to bring my MRI scan forward to this Tuesday, instead of the 30th march, so I too am impressed with the speed of things moving forward, which in some cases is better, less time worrying, I am doing OK at the moment and have found the macmillan support to be brilliant, and just knowing someone can offer advice has helped me to keep going, hope your pre-op goes OK and you get your date soon.
Good luck
Hi Dream catcher,
Take heart in knowing there are hundreds who have gone through the dreadful experience of receiving a usually very unexpected diagnosis. Mine was on Xmas eve. Since then I have had my operation and am currently on my first cycle of oral chemo which is going really well. I am feeling very positive and have realised that dwelling on the "what if's" for too long, on things that have not even been confirmed, was really bad for my mental health. I now work hard to push the negativity out and concentrate on self-care. (As a mum of 2 young boys it is not always easy but finding time for myself helps).
Take care and all the best to you over the next few weeks.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
