I've been taken off Oxaliplatin and now on a reduced dose of capecitabine, side effects being the reason.

My feet and legs up to my knees are numb and with "pins and needles" and it also effects my hands. My consultant is very non committal but I'm assuming it's permanent. I don't ask probing questions, I'd rather just take every day as it comes. My best friend of 50 years was told he had 6 months to live and lasted for a further 7 years. Can't be bothered to ask as I know the consultant doesn't know and it would put him in an awkward position.

Just taken delivery of a Beurer heat pad today on which I've placed my feet whilst I'm sitting watching an old British film - bliss! This after just coming back from a very pleasant walk of 2 miles with doggy in the sun. I was going to buy an electric bike but I'm slowly getting weaker do not sure it's a good idea. However; I've got a number of things to look forward to, the main thing being my daughter is due to give birth in 2 weeks.

  • Hi @Ned48

You sound as though you have had a very pleasant day . Good on you .

Thr sun has shone all day here too which has been much appreciated.

The neuropathy is hard to predict . I would say my mum still has it but it is much less of a problem than when she first finished chemo . I think she has learnt to work round it a bit .

Such a lovely thing to look forward to . Children are just wonderful for pulling us forward and making us smile .

Hope you have a wonderful evening ,
