Hi all, my name is Ian 53 from Suffolk. 2014 I was diagnosed with stage T3 colon rectal had lots of chemo and radiotherapy then 3 surgeries. I thought it was all good and I was clear of cancer. Then in 2020 I was having a lot of pain in my coccyx and after going to the doctors and having more scans I was diagnosed with stage T4 cancer and if I didn’t have the surgery then I will be dead within a year. This one had spread from my bowel in to my coccyx and surrounding area. A few months ago I had everything in my pelvis removed bladder, prostate, bowel etc.. they had to sacrifice my sciatic nerve so now I can’t walk as my left leg is no good. All good I thought. I thought I can put up with this if it means I’m now clear of cancer. After a 17 hour surgery I was told all the margins were clear of cancer. Last week I had my first CT scans and have just been told that I now have a tumour on my liver. So thanks 2020 and 2021. Anyway I’m still here and always positive about things and life so we will meet this new one head on like we did with the other 2 rounds of cancer.

  • , sorry to hear you have had a further recurrence after all you have been through. You are very brave and philosophical. Liver mets are treatable, I will tag whose mum has survived at stage 4 with liver mets for 11 1/2 years.. Good luck, and keep posting.

Onwards and flatwards (don't do hills) and keep walking if you can!

  • Hi

Welcome to the forum and thank you Seaspirit for tagging me in .

That was such a blow to have a recurrence so far away from your original diagnosis. You have in deed been through a lot .
Have the come up with a treatment plan for your liver ? If you click on my user name you can read my mum’s situation . Chemo did a great job on her liver mets and was able to have a liver resection . A recurrence is so disappointing however like you my mum had quite a focused  outlook on how to get the best approach to deal with it.

Just to encourage you it’s been ten years since my mum’s last liver resection and it’s stayed clear . Five years since her last recurrence and lots of good living in between.
Please feel free to ask anything you like and we will do our best to answer and support you .

    Take care ,

    Court
