Simon is having problems with his kidneys now and may need a stoma to drain them. Has anyone else had this.
Hi Rosie13
I’m sorry to read that Simon is still having issues with his kidneys.
I thought that he already had a nephrostomy (with the tube coming out from his back to drain the kidneys) so has that changed?

I see…so that would involve a bag on his tummy if they make a diversion for the urine to drain out directly, bypassing the bladder.
Has the doctor explained how it would be done, or is it not a definite decision yet?

Maybe wait and see what happens next, and if he does need a urostomy, there will be more experience in the bladder group so you could ask questions there or in the stoma support group when you know more.
I’m not sure there are any members here in the bowel group who have had this done, so it might be unlikely to connect with others who have the right experience to share.
Most of us with a urostomy have had it done because we’ve had to have our bladders removed, so Simon’s situation will not be the same. I’ve been living with my urostomy for 6 years very successfully so the doctors might think it’s a better solution for his issues? It’s difficult for you not being at the appointment to have it explained.
