Symptoms, worried!

Hello, I’m new here as I’ve been experiencing symptoms which are worrying me and I can’t see a Dr for a few weeks.
About 3 months ago I randomly and suddenly become constipated and it’s never gone away. During this time I’ve seen (tiny) amounts of blood on the toilet paper intermittently. I’ve seen blood about 4- 5 times. it could well be there’s been some in my stools that I just haven’t noticed as I hadn’t been looking!
I’ve got other symptoms which I don’t know if they’re related or separate. I’ve had a lower left back ache but its not painful and I don’t think it’s getting worse, I’ve also had a sort of tugging feeling on my lower left abdomen. These two symptoms I have felt most days or every day for a few weeks but they fluctuate and not painful. the back ache could be posture as I spend a lot of time sitting on the left hand side of the sofa, leaning to the left (I have a chronic illness so I’m resting on the sofa a lot!).
I can’t think of a reason for the constipation.
Does this sound like something to worry about? I’m 29 and worried the Drs may fob me off (based off past experience). But I also hope there could be another reason for it other than cancer.

  • See you GP and insist upon a bowel screening testing kit.

  • I have an appointment booked for the 19th Jan, but I’m hoping to get an earlier appointment!

  • Hi

It could be any number of things (most of which are not cancer), but the thing is that you just don't know what until you go to the doctor and they identify the cause.  If the doctors do fob you off be insistent - this is your health and it's ok to do that.

    Best wishes!

  • Thank you. I’m worried that my symptoms are too ‘cancer-like’ and that they don’t sound like something else. Just have to wait for the docs appointment but I’m so stressed!

  • I’m 32 and did get fobbed off by my GP the first time I went (it was a phone appointment and told they don’t screen unless you’re over 40) I pushed for the screening and am now on the 2ww for a colorectal referral due to high markers.

Try not to panic as there are lots of things that could be causing your symptoms but definitely push to be seen and taken seriously.

  • Thanks so much for your reply and so sorry you’re going through this (and was also fobbed off). Please can I ask what your symptoms were? I hope you’re doing ok?

  • That’s, trying to take things a day at a time, the waiting for tests is horrible but just having to wait it out atm.

the symptom that made me go to the gp was having large amounts of blood in the toilet after bowl movements. My also fatigue and abdominal pain that is mostly been dismissing, and who knows may not be related.

  • I hope all goes ok! Thinking of you

  • Thanks, you too!
